Humanforce adds automated rewards tools for frontline
Humanforce has launched a new Rewards & Recognition feature within its Humanforce Benefits product. The update adds behaviour-driven recognition and automated rewards for frontline employees, using workforce data and event triggers.
Humanforce is positioning the release as a response to ongoing workforce pressures in shift-based industries including retail, healthcare, hospitality, childcare, aged care and logistics. The company points to continued high turnover, inconsistent compliance behaviours and engagement challenges in these sectors.
As context for the launch, Humanforce cited Australian turnover benchmarks. Average employee turnover across Australian organisations is around 16 percent, while frontline sectors such as retail and hospitality often record turnover above 40 percent.
Clayton Pyne, CEO of Humanforce, said employers are trying to balance competing demands when managing large shift-based workforces.
"Frontline organisations are under constant pressure to improve engagement, retention and compliance without increasing operational complexity," Pyne said.
He said the feature is designed to connect recognition to everyday actions tracked in operational systems.
"Recognition tied to everyday operational behaviours allows organisations to reinforce the actions that matter most. Too often, recognition programs sit outside the systems where frontline work actually happens. When actions such as attendance, task completion and teamwork are recognised in the moment, positive habits start to scale across the workforce," Pyne said.
Product integration
Rewards & Recognition sits within the Humanforce platform rather than operating as a standalone tool. It connects to workforce management and HR data already held in the system, reducing the need for additional tools and manual administration.
The feature is available through the Humanforce Thrive employee app and draws data from across the Humanforce suite. It can recognise behaviours in real time, including onboarding completion, on-time attendance and completion of compliance tasks.
Automation is based on event triggers, allowing organisations to set rewards for actions as they occur. Humanforce said the aim is to reduce workload for HR and operations teams where managers are already handling rosters, absences and daily operational demands.
Alongside automated recognition, the product also includes peer-to-peer recognition, enabling employees and managers to recognise work through the same system.
Rewards mechanics
Employees can redeem points for digital gift cards, and the platform automatically marks milestones such as birthdays and work anniversaries.
Humanforce framed the release as an alternative to recognition programs that sit outside day-to-day workforce tools. In frontline settings, recognition often depends on manager discretion and manual nomination processes, which can be difficult to apply consistently across sites and shifts.
"Traditional recognition programs usually sit outside the flow of daily work, which means they often fail in frontline environments," Pyne said.
"By connecting recognition directly to operational data and automating rewards based on workforce events, organisations can reinforce the behaviours that drive engagement, performance and compliance," he said.
Retention context
Recognition has become more prominent in workforce technology as employers deal with labour shortages, frequent absences and ongoing recruitment costs. In sectors with irregular hours and rotating teams, creating consistent employee experiences across sites can be challenging.
Humanforce also referenced Gallup research on the link between recognition and employee retention. Gallup reports that employees who do not feel adequately recognised at work are twice as likely to leave their organisation within the next year.
Pyne said the company sees small, frequent signals as a way to shape culture for shift-based teams.
"In fast-moving frontline environments, culture is built through the small daily moments, not annual reviews or a one-off instance," he said.
"When recognition is tied to everyday operational behaviours, organisations can turn compliance into culture," he said.
The launch expands Humanforce's broader human capital management platform for frontline and flexible workforces, which links workforce data, automation and employee experience tools in one system.
Humanforce did not disclose pricing or availability details for Rewards & Recognition, including whether it is included with existing Humanforce Benefits subscriptions or sold as an additional module.
The company said the feature is designed around data generated in day-to-day operations, with recognition tied to attendance, onboarding and compliance events through the Humanforce Thrive app.
