JobAdder has launched a new artificial intelligence product called Adder Intelligence, designed to change how employers in Australia identify and engage candidates. The latest technology operates entirely in the background, aiming to streamline the hiring process at a time when recruiters are facing record volumes of applications and subdued jobs growth across Australia and New Zealand.
Prompt-free automation
Adder Intelligence works by continuously analysing historical candidate data stored within an organisation's applicant tracking system. The system automatically updates profiles, recognises career progression, and surfaces potential candidates who may not reapply or come through traditional recruitment channels. Crucially, recruiters do not need to interact with the system or issue prompts, as its analysis and recommendations run in the background.
The product includes two main features at launch: Smart Summary and Smart Sync. Smart Summary compiles a concise overview of a candidate's fit for a role, drawing from resumes, applications and historical notes. It produces a clear recommendation on the strength of the match, helping recruiters prioritise candidates efficiently. Smart Sync addresses the challenge of outdated or incomplete candidate records by scanning unstructured data and recommending updates to ensure the database remains accurate.
Recruiter workload reduction
The introduction of Adder Intelligence comes as recruiters are being asked to do more with fewer resources. JobAdder's 2025/26 benchmark data indicates that candidate applications have increased by 42% year-on-year, while hiring levels have declined by 5.4% in Australia and 17% in New Zealand. This combination leaves recruiters with more candidates to review per vacancy and fewer roles to offer.
According to the same data, 81% of agencies already use some form of AI in their workflow, but its use has largely been limited to administrative tasks. A majority, 78%, cite a desire to reduce administrative load as the main driver for AI adoption, while 63% of recruiters report that applicants expect a higher level of communication and transparency during the process.
Talent visibility
Recruitment teams trialling the new system observe that the technology helps uncover talent that might otherwise have gone unnoticed. Because Adder Intelligence tracks individual career progression and updates over time, it can identify candidates whose skills or circumstances have changed since their last interaction with an employer. As one recruiter explained, "If I got your CV five years ago, the AI now knows you've got ten years of experience. I'd rather look in the pantry before going to Woolies."
Early trial results indicate a 67% reduction in time-to-hire. HR leaders suggest that the system also improves the accuracy of shortlists, reduces administrative work and provides a more equitable experience for applicants, as fewer strong candidates are overlooked due to high workloads or outdated database records.
Recruiter control
JobAdder positions Adder Intelligence as a move away from what it describes as overly complex, "black box" AI solutions that have struggled with user adoption. Martin Herbst, Chief Executive Officer at JobAdder, said,
"Recruiters shouldn't have to talk to their tools. Adder Intelligence does the heavy lifting, analysing, learning and surfacing insights automatically, so they can focus on hiring people, not managing software."
Joel Delmaire, Chief Product Officer at JobAdder, said, "We're entering a new era of AI; one that's powerfully simple, specialised and genuinely useful. Recruiters don't need to prompt or configure it. The intelligence happens behind the scenes, helping them make faster, more confident hiring decisions."
