Medallia opens Singapore data center

Experience management software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider Medallia has opened a new data center in Singapore as the company hopes to capitalise on growth in the Asia Pacific region.

Medallia adds Singapore to its global data center spread across countries including the United States (Santa Clara, Seattle, Denver), Canada (Toronto and Montreal), Germany (Frankfurt), the United Kingdom (London), the Netherlands (Amsterdam), and Australia (Sydney).

According to the company, Singapore is a priority market because it is considered to be a global business and connectivity hub.

The Singapore data center will host Medallia Experience Cloud solutions across conversations, digital, speech, text analytics, video, and the company’s artificial intelligence product called Athena.

Medallia owns and maintains all backend infrastructure and states it is committed to ensuring that its reliability, uptime and operational capabilities match data centers around the world.

“Medallia is investing across the APAC region, supporting expansion and helping our customers drive growth by understanding and managing customer, employee and citizen experiences,” says Medallia APAC vice president and general manager Gavin Selkirk.

He adds that the data center will play an important part in making sure the company delivers on regulatory and data security requirements that Medallia's customers need for their experience programs.

“We already have customers using the infrastructure and it will become the default location for many of our Asian customers.”

The company also recently appointed a new country manager for its Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) operations.

Heather Paterson has joined the A/NZ team with the responsibility of driving further growth across the region. 

She will lead the company’s Australian team as it continues to support enterprise organisations in translating customer and employee feedback into actionable insights that help optimise experiences. She will also spearhead ground operations in New Zealand.

“Customer and employee experience management continues to gain traction across Australasia as organisations recognise its importance in their business strategy in ever-changing economic times. That makes it an exciting time to join Medallia and I look forward to working with the team to build on its strong foundations,” says Paterson.

Paterson previously worked with Japan-based SaaS financial technology provider Intralinks for more than seven years. She was most recently Intralinks’ director for Asia Pacific and Japan.

“Heather’s results-driven approach, ability to build and manage teams and strong background in financial services technology – an important and growing sector for us – means she’s ideally suited to run our business across Australia and New Zealand,” says Selkirk.

“Australia was Medallia’s first office in the region and as it continues to grow we look forward to building our New Zealand presence which Heather will play an integral role in building.”
