Datacom opens new tech integration centre in South Australia
Fri, 12th Apr 2024

Expanding its operational footprint across Australia, Datacom, the largest homegrown tech firm in Australasia, has announced the launch of its new bespoke integration centre in South Australia (SA). This site marks the third Datacom facility in the state, adding to an overall workforce of over 1,000 employees distributed across the three centres. The new unit will bolster service provision to regional and central SA clients and will function as a national hub, enhancing Datacom's processing capacity to over 9,000 devices per week nationally.

In support of Datacom's growth within SA, the newly-developed site will facilitate the processing and configuration of up to 100 devices concurrently and 2,500 digital apparatuses each week. The service scope encompasses receipt of digital assets in bulk, alignment to specific network and security requirements, and the ultimate delivery and installation. This range of functions will meet the needs of a varied SA customer base, spanning government, corporate, and commercial sectors.

Ross Salisbury, Datacom's Director PSG, comments on the new centre: "The launch of this facility accelerates service levels for our customers across SA. We had outgrown our previous facility, so a more expansive, customisable space was timely. It has allowed us to redefine industry standards for facilities of this type. Coming swiftly after the recent debut of our warehouse space in NSW, these developments constitute strategic investments designed to facilitate the digitisation, modernisation, and rapid deployment of our customer workforce."

Salisbury further emphasised the sustainability benefits afforded to their customers as part of the new facilities' operations whereby asset packaging and end-of-life assets are managed responsibly. "Every activity is managed with a circular sustainability approach. This provides our customers with inherently sustainable tech solutions that recover valuable time, formerly spent on recycling packaging or outdated assets."

South Australian businesses and organisations can now benefit from enhanced efficiency via quicker technology integrations and a streamlined employee onboarding process. This operational tactic where asset packaging and life-expired assets are professionally handled, will significantly boost the sustainability efforts of the customers while contributing towards achieving state-wide sustainability objectives.

Designed by Datacom for optimal capacity and operational efficiency, the centre has a storage capacity of 250 pallets, with a national backup capacity of 1,500 pallets. Advanced security measures such as CCTV surveillance are implemented. The site also offers amenities including customer hot desks and vendor spaces for repairs in a shared workspace, along with a staff kitchen, bathroom, and shower facilities.

The services offered at this integration centre range from circularity services, device imaging, SOE management and development to on-site technician services including VIP services and Lenovo approved repair agents. Other features include asset tagging with customer or Datacom supplied tags, shipment consolidation, sticker removal, bundle preparation, electrical testing, and reporting.
