Employment Hero and Sage partner to aid Australian SMEs growth
Tue, 16th Jan 2024

Employment Hero, the HR, payroll and employee engagement platform, has announced a strategic global partnership with Sage, a provider of financial management solutions.

This collaboration seeks to help propel small to mid-sized businesses (SMEs) in Australia forward by harmonising payroll, HR, and financial systems, thus ensuring businesses remain in compliance with evolving employment legislation.

Through the joint effort of Employment Hero, known for its specialisation in HR, payroll, and employment compliance, and Sage's cloud-based accounting software, Sage Intacct, Australian SMEs will now have a clearer route to managing the complexities of employment, tax, and payroll regulations.

Sage Intacct is recognised for offering thorough visibility into the day-to-day operational and financial aspects of a business, which has proven to lead to improved automation, increased profitability, and enhanced customer satisfaction.

Ben Thompson, the Founder and CEO of Employment Hero, highlighted the challenges many businesses face in Australia. "For most industries in Australia, keeping up with the complexities of employment regulation can be difficult, especially regarding payroll."

"This is particularly challenging for SMEs who are already overstretched and lack the expertise to be aware of all compliance protocols. Employment Hero’s integration with Sage Intacct will be fundamental to supporting Australian SMEs by giving them an easy, clear way to engage with and comply with extensive employment regulations."

This revolutionary integration will give SMEs access to various services through Sage Intacct to ensure they adhere to all payment conditions correctly, classify their employees accurately, collect true time and attendance data, and process this data with the correct pay calculations, payslips, and correct Pay As You Go (PAYG) tax and superannuation calculations.

The partnership with Sage Intacct allows users to access premium Employment Hero features such as employee self-service, onboarding, rostering, time and attendance, and leave management – all achieved at the press of a button.

It seeks to streamline the payroll and financial processes for SMEs by effectively synchronising a wide range of pertinent information directly with their Sage Intacct account. This includes importing charts of accounts and tax codes, assigning classes and departments to specific locations, and exporting journals populated with relevant payroll details.

Tom Gough, Country Manager for Sage Australia/New Zealand, emphasised, "Sage Intacct empowers users to make tailored choices for their business, seamlessly connected to a diverse digital marketplace with integrations facilitating the consolidation of financial data into a centralised location."

"Through the collaboration with Employment Hero, we leverage our respective expertise to streamline business processes, ensuring smooth data flow between HR and payroll systems and minimising the need for redundant data entry and potential errors."

Employment Hero's proficiency with Australian employment law is recognised as a vital asset, and their collaboration with Sage will support businesses to consistently conform to the continually evolving tax, payroll, and employment legislation, which is particularly intricate in an Australian context.
