Inde appoints Chris Beckett as technology strategist

Wed, 15th Apr 2026

Inde has appointed Chris Beckett to a new senior advisory role, Technology Strategist, formalising a strategic advisory function within the New Zealand technology consultancy.

In the role, Beckett will lead work on technology roadmaps and advise customers on long-term planning, with a focus on aligning technology decisions with business priorities. The position is designed to give customers a clearer point of access to senior strategic guidance.

Advisory shift

Until now, that advisory work had been included within broader consulting engagements. By creating a dedicated position, Inde is drawing a clearer line between strategic planning, project delivery and technical implementation.

The appointment comes as organisations face more complex choices around technology investment and architecture. That has increased demand for senior advisers who can connect technical options with commercial goals.

Chief Executive Dave Veronese said the move reflected customer demand.

"Technology decisions are becoming more complex and more critical. Our customers deserve clarity and confidence when shaping their technology future. By introducing this role, we're ensuring they have more access to strategic guidance that turns ambition into action whenever they choose to engage at that level," said Dave Veronese, Chief Executive, Inde.

Background

Beckett has led the company's Data Intelligence and Architecture practice, where he built the team and worked with enterprise customers on data and architecture projects. That experience positioned him as a natural choice for the new advisory post.

His remit includes helping organisations turn early-stage ideas into practical plans while keeping a focus on measurable business results. He will also serve as a senior adviser to customers seeking longer-term direction rather than support tied only to immediate project needs.

Data transition

During the transition, Beckett will continue to oversee Inde's Data team while the company hands over leadership to Matthew Flatt, who is joining as Technical Director of Data. The process is intended to maintain continuity across current customer work.

Inde has offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin, and works with enterprise organisations across New Zealand. The decision to create a dedicated strategist role reflects a broader shift in the technology services market, as clients increasingly seek external advice on planning and governance as well as delivery.

Beckett outlined how he sees the role.

"I'm excited to help customers think beyond immediate projects and design strategies that deliver real impact. This is about making technology a driver of innovation, not just an enabler," said Chris Beckett, Technology Strategist, Inde.
