Oracle's cloud boosts efficiency for construction giants

Fri, 11th Apr 2025

Oracle has announced that major engineering and construction companies have adopted its Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications to improve productivity and efficiency in their operations.

Several companies, including Black & Veatch, Mortenson, Pike Corporation, and WSP Global, have utilised Oracle's cloud applications to standardise and enhance business processes across various domains such as finance, HR, and supply chain management.

"To help manage costs, streamline regulatory compliance tasks, and improve the employee and customer experience, engineering and construction companies need fast, accurate, and touchless processes," said Rondy Ng, Executive Vice President of Applications Development at Oracle. "Inspired by direct input from our customer community, Oracle Fusion Applications gives engineering and construction companies the ability to leverage embedded AI to connect actions across all lines of business, improve the speed and accuracy of operations, and deliver projects on time and under budget."

At Pike Corporation, a leading provider of energy solutions in the United States, Oracle's solutions have been instrumental in driving efficiencies in finance, HR, and supply chain management. The company sought simpler business processes as part of its strategic goals.

"The size of our business quadrupled within the span of five years. Our legacy applications could not keep pace with the speed of change, were costly to maintain, and required a lot of manual effort," said Richard Wimmer, Chief Financial Officer of Pike Corporation. "With Oracle Fusion Applications, we've been able to improve the speed and accuracy of business operations, accelerate our financial close process, and drive real-time decisions as we continue to expand and better serve our customers."

Black & Veatch, a globally recognised engineering and construction company, also saw the need to consolidate its systems and enhance operational efficiency.

"Our on-premises systems limited visibility into critical data and prevented us from quickly adapting to changes in our business," said Michael Williams, Chief Financial Officer of Black & Veatch. "With Oracle Fusion Applications, we've been able to improve efficiency, expand insights, and better address client needs by standardising business operations on a single platform with new embedded AI capabilities."

Mortenson, a U.S.-based builder and real estate developer, faced challenges with disconnected business processes and sought to better align finance, HR, and supply chain operations.

"Our legacy systems did not effectively connect business processes, which made it difficult to access accurate insights related to spending, risk, projects, and talent," said Lois Martin, Chief Financial Officer of Mortenson. "Oracle Fusion Applications Suite has enabled us to rationalise 220 applications across 60+ entities and integrate finance, HR, and procurement processes. By standardising key processes on a single platform, we have been able to connect actions across lines of business, improve agility, and better compete for projects in new markets."

WSP Global, a major player in engineering and professional services with operations in Australia and other regions, has also adopted Oracle's platform to achieve enhanced productivity and efficiency.

"The Oracle platform has provided us with the opportunity to enhance our ability to access real-time insights and achieve the visibility we needed across all of our business," said Chadi Habib, Chief Technology Officer of WSP Global. "The current deployment of the Oracle Applications Suite has already begun to advance our business insights. We are confident that this solution will help enhance our operations over time, enabling unified and streamlined processes across our business. Ultimately, this transformation aims to deliver added value for our clients."

Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Suite comprises various cloud services which include Enterprise Resource Planning, Enterprise Performance Management, Project Management, Human Capital Management, Supply Chain & Manufacturing, and Customer Experience.
