Semperis achieves ARR milestone with USD $100 million mark

Today

Semperis has announced its achievement of surpassing USD $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR), a milestone reached by fewer than one in every 1,000 venture-backed enterprise software companies.

This financial success follows a USD $125 million strategic growth financing round in June 2024. The investment was provided by J.P. Morgan and Hercules Capital, and the company has reported a remarkable growth of 3,000% over the past five years.

Semperis attributes its rapid customer growth and "centaur status" to its comprehensive solutions addressing identity-based attacks in Active Directory and Entra ID environments. The company's offerings, validated by research firm Gartner, promise organisations the ability to counter ransomware threats, significantly reducing downtime and manual threat monitoring while mitigating cyber risk at all stages of an attack.

Malcolm Turnbull, the former Australian Prime Minister and Strategic Advisor at Semperis, highlighted the growing challenge of identity-centric cyberattacks and the limitations of traditional security solutions. "Semperis has 'best in breed' solutions that help organisations detect, remediate and recover from identity-based attacks. I look forward to working with Semperis in 2025 to expand its presence in Australia, New Zealand and throughout Asia Pacific and Japan," he said.

The focus on identity systems as crucial components of cyber resilience is in line with newer regulatory frameworks like the Digital Operational Resilience Act and widely adopted standards such as NIST. Global cybersecurity agencies have underscored the importance of addressing vulnerabilities in identity systems as attackers increasingly exploit these as entry points.

Gerry Sillars, Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan at Semperis, commented on the company's growth trajectory and the increasing incidence of identity-driven cyberattacks. "With growth of more than 100% annually since 2021 and the dramatic increase in identity-driven cyberattacks, surpassing USD $100 million in annual recurring revenue is a testament to the effectiveness of our solutions in protecting identity systems, the new security perimeter," he stated.

Chris Inglis, Strategic Advisor at Semperis and former U.S. National Cyber Director, spoke on the essential role of identity resilience in business security. "Recognising the essential relationship between identity and business resilience, Semperis' products and services are on the cutting edge of cyber use cases, setting them apart from competitors," Inglis said, emphasising that identity security is core to business operations.

Semperis' mission involves providing solutions to mitigate the impact of ransomware attacks. According to the company's Ransomware Risk Report 2024, 83% of surveyed organisations experienced ransomware attacks, with a significant proportion paying the ransom. Semperis has developed tools such as Purple Knight and Forest Druid to assist in identifying vulnerabilities and potential threat paths in enterprise environments.

Mickey Bresman, CEO of Semperis, expressed the company's commitment to identity-based cyber resilience. "From our inception in 2015, we've been preaching the importance of putting identity at the centre of your cyber resilience strategy," Bresman remarked.

Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR) continues to be a rising focus in cybersecurity. Semperis is a key player in this category, with Gartner recognising ITDR as a top trend for Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs). The company aims to help organisations adopt zero-trust models and address frequent identity system vulnerabilities.

Semperis has recently expanded its leadership with the appointment of executives possessing IPO experience, reflecting its growth ambitions. Additionally, it continues to enhance its AI-powered threat detection capabilities and has recently launched new services tailored for small to midsized businesses.
