Slipstream Cyber expands with new Perth CBD office opening

Yesterday

Innovation Minister Stephen Dawson has opened Slipstream Cyber's new office in the Perth CBD, marking a significant expansion for the cybersecurity firm.

The company is specialised in providing 24/7 cyber defence and advisory services, primarily for industries with high cybersecurity demands such as financial services, manufacturing, professional services, health care, including aged care, and mining. The new office underscores Slipstream Cyber's expansion efforts as it seeks to support the cybersecurity needs of businesses both locally and nationally. This includes focusing on continuous, proactive measures to maintain business resilience.

Australian businesses report a cyber incident every six minutes, with it taking an average of almost 200 days to detect security breaches. Slipstream Cyber is backed by a team of 60 specialists and has expanded its national customer base by 20 per cent over the past year, aiding Australian businesses in their cyber security needs.

The new premises are centrally located in Perth's CBD and serve as a combined office with Interactive, a top IT service provider which acquired Slipstream Cyber in 2023. This union reflects Slipstream Cyber's origins in Western Australia and its mission to enhance and protect cybersecurity frameworks nationwide.

Hon Stephen Dawson MLC, Minister for Regional Development; Ports; Science and Innovation; Medical Research and Minister for the Kimberley, expressed encouragement over this development. "We recognise that cybersecurity is critical to businesses across key sectors across Western Australia including finance, healthcare and mining. The continued success of Slipstream Cyber shows there is a great opportunity for Western Australian innovators to make their mark right here as well as create job opportunities. Congratulations to the team," he said.

Nick Scholefield, Managing Director, Slipstream Cyber, highlighted the importance of the office opening as an indication of the company's dedication to its Australian clientele. "We're excited to move into the new office and have a consolidated location in Perth with both our Interactive and Slipstream Cyber teams. By consolidating our presence, we're fostering deeper collaboration between our teams to provide unparalleled cybersecurity solutions. Western Australia plays a crucial role in Australia's economy, particularly in technology and critical infrastructure, making this the perfect time to expand our footprint. Slipstream Cyber has built a reputation as a trusted partner, delivering first class, national cybersecurity capabilities with a strong local presence," he stated.

Additionally, Slipstream Cyber is committing resources towards investing in the future of the workforce, acknowledging the anticipated need for 1.3 million technology workers in Australia by 2030. This projection is 100,000 more than the government's target, as indicated by the Australian Computer Society (ACS).

To support this, Slipstream Cyber is involved in the Work Integrated Learning Program with Edith Cowan University, placing 20 graduates over the past five years. Sam Phelan, Work Integrated Learning Coordinator at Edith Cowan University, spoke on the importance of such initiatives, "Slipstream Cyber has been an invaluable partner to our Work Integrated Learning Program placements, which excites our students and helps us stand out against other tertiary course offerings. By empowering students with real world experience, networking, and technical and professional development, we are working towards bridging gaps in the digital skills shortage one cohort at a time."

The new Slipstream Cyber office is located at Level 1, 40 Esplanade, Perth WA 6000.
