Synology launches AI Wi-Fi camera for Australia & NZ

Yesterday

Synology has unveiled the CC400W, its first AI-powered Wi-Fi camera, marking its foray into the AI-driven surveillance market in Australia and New Zealand.

The CC400W is designed to cater to the evolving needs of modern surveillance systems by combining high-quality imaging with artificial intelligence capabilities, aiming to simplify security setup by eliminating the need for complex wiring. It provides solutions tailored for small businesses, small office/home offices (SOHOs), and retailers.

"With its blend of easy installation, high video quality, and robust AI capabilities, the CC400W presents an exceptional solution for small businesses, SOHOs, and retailers seeking to bolster their security measures with minimal complexity," commented Alan Lin, Product Manager of Synology Camera.

The CC400W is equipped with an IP65 weatherproof certification, enabling it to withstand various weather conditions and offering dual-band Wi-Fi for flexible installation. The camera's design allows it to be mounted in different positions, such as on ceilings, walls, flat surfaces, or using magnetic attachment. It also incorporates two-way audio, facilitating direct communication throughout different areas of the premises.

Users can expect high-quality video with the CC400W, which offers a resolution of 2560×1440 at 30 frames per second. The camera's 125-degree field of view, HDR capabilities, and a powerful 10-meter infrared LED ensure optimal monitoring in diverse lighting conditions, including those with high contrast. The efficiency of the camera is further enhanced by H.265 codecs and Smart Bitrate Control, which optimise bandwidth and storage usage while maintaining image quality.

The camera's on-board AI offers streamlined surveillance by delivering real-time alerts for specific activities such as People and Vehicle Detection, Intrusion Detection, Instant Search, and Auto Tracking. When used with Synology's DVA models, additional features like Face Recognition, License Plate Recognition, and People Counting are available for more detailed security analysis.

The CC400W is compatible with DS cam and Surveillance Station, supporting straightforward addition and connection for easy monitoring management. Significantly, Synology cameras do not require Surveillance Station device licences, thus simplifying integration.

Adhering to stringent security and privacy standards, the CC400W complies with NDAA and TAA regulations, and supports HTTPS and SRTP for video and data encryption. Regular firmware updates are provided to ensure adherence to the latest security protocols, and a Micro SD failover feature is included to ensure access to clear, uncorrupted footage even under challenging network conditions.

Currently available through Synology partners and resellers in Australia and New Zealand, the CC400W aims to provide a comprehensive yet accessible solution for those seeking to enhance their security infrastructure with advanced technology.
