VIQ Solutions resolves COVID-19 meeting transcription issues for accounting body
Tue, 27th Apr 2021
FYI, this story is more than a year old

VIQ Solutions, a global provider of secure, AI-driven, digital voice and video capture technology and transcription services, has improved timeliness and accuracy by deploying high tech recording and transcription services at one of the world's largest accounting bodies.

The organisation offers core services to members, including education, training, technical support and advocacy. Employees and members work together with local and international bodies to represent the views and concerns of the profession to governments, regulators, industries, academia and the general public.

When COVID-19 struck, the accounting body found it essential to transition from in-person recorded meetings and hearings to remote recorded conferences. They sought a remote recording solution that supported fast transcription turnaround.

“The accountants required a vendor with industry-specific knowledge, experience and technology, to work with and understand the recording and transcription needs of conference and corporate meetings,” says VIQ solutions managing director for APAC Matthew Fowler.

“VIQ Solutions delivered a tailored solution that met the organisation's new needs when COVID-19 halted in-person hearings and meetings.

VIQ Solutions worked collaboratively with the customer by providing a staff member, also known as a monitor, to participate in all requested meetings and hearings. The monitor attends a virtual meeting and records the Zoom or Microsoft Teams session while making important annotations to assist the transcription process.

The monitor's crucial role is to review the audio file progressively and immediately notify those present in the meeting if there is an issue with audio quality that will have a detrimental impact on the accuracy of the transcript.

It is the monitor's job to alert those present for environmental noise from one of the participants, when a participant is not talking loudly enough, or there is an issue with the speaker's microphone.

The transcription vendor's services have delivered multiple benefits. They are dependable, as accountants rely on the ability to turn documents around within a designated period. They are economical, as they allow employees to focus their energies beyond transcription and on core business.

Audio capture supports documentation workflows in the office and on the go, while the vendor's monitors are available whenever they are needed. The solution captures all recordings with easy and reliable booking.

“Our highly experienced team of transcriptionists delivers with a 98% accuracy promise,” says Fowler.

“Further to that, our account representative is readily available to assist and address any questions or issues that may arise, and the accounting body has stated that they are very happy with our customer service.
