Today

A new survey conducted by Unisys has revealed that over 70% of employees in Australia, the US, UK, and Germany feel that artificial intelligence (AI) has positively impacted their job satisfaction as AI becomes more integrated into their daily tasks.

The report, "The AI Equation: 2024 AI Business Impact Research," provides insights into the transformative effects of AI in the workplace, covering aspects from job satisfaction to productivity and career advancement. It highlights responses from both employees and executives on how AI influences their work environment.

In examining the role of AI in employee satisfaction, the research indicates that 71% of respondents across the surveyed countries report increased job satisfaction due to AI integration. "This report shows that employees are increasingly recognising the benefits of AI, not just in their daily tasks but also in their overall career development," said Patrycja Sobera, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Digital Workplace Solutions, Unisys. "AI is far more than a tool for efficiency; it is a catalyst for career growth and professional advancement. By automating routine tasks, AI enables employees to focus on more meaningful and strategic aspects of their roles, boosting productivity and job satisfaction."

Additional findings suggest that 79% of employees believe that acquiring AI skills will facilitate faster career progression, while 44% of those who have saved time through AI implementation are investing that time in further training or professional development.

Contrary to common fears about AI potentially leading to job displacement, the study reflects optimism about AI's role in job creation, with 61% of employees anticipating AI will lead to more jobs. Organisations' executives share this positive outlook, considering AI integral to future business strategies.

Unisys reports that 73% of executives see AI adoption as essential for sustaining long-term competitiveness, with 89% predicting increased AI usage in the coming year. Furthermore, 93% of these business leaders view AI as a permanent part of their organisational strategy.

Brett Barton, Vice President and Global AI Practice Leader at Unisys, stated, "Think of AI as the ultimate co-worker who never sleeps, always ready to boost efficiency and spark innovation. By automating mundane processes, AI allows employees to engage in more meaningful work, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth. Our research shows that when AI is at the heart of business strategy, it not only ramps up productivity but also opens up exciting new career paths and job opportunities."

The survey further underscores the importance of strategic AI investments, noting that organisations enjoying significant returns often have structured AI leadership, such as a Chief AI Officer, reflecting in time savings and competitive advantages.

Unisys gathered these findings through two studies conducted by Ipsos and PSB. The research encompassed inputs from 2,015 global participants, including C-Suite executives and IT leaders, as well as an additional survey of 250 US business executives with IT decision-making responsibilities.
