Avani Prabhakar promoted to Chief People Officer at Atlassian
Atlassian, the noted team collaboration and productivity software provider known for products like Jira, Confluence, and Loom, has announced the promotion of Avani Prabhakar to the role of Chief People Officer. Prabhakar will now helm the People organisation, managing a diverse array of functions including Human Resources (HRBP), Employment Relations, Talent, Total Rewards, People Insights, People M&A, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and Team Anywhere across Atlassian's global presence.
Prabhakar's new role focuses on bolstering business transformations, fostering top-tier distributed-first teams, and constructing the necessary processes, policies, and practices to fully unlock the potential of all Atlassians. Since joining Atlassian as the Head of HR Partners for Asia Pacific in 2019, she has consistently grown her role, taking on the position of head of all HRBPs and leading Talent, Employee Relations, and DEI functions.
Erika Fisher, Chief Administrative and Legal Officer at Atlassian, expressed her confidence in Prabhakar's capability to guide the company's future growth. Fisher noted, "In the past four years alone, Atlassian's headcount has almost doubled, and as we continue to scale at speed I couldn't think of a better people leader to steer our future growth. Avani is laser-focused on a people strategy that delivers outcomes and drives success across the whole business. She naturally excels at unlocking and emphasising the power of cross-functional teams and partnerships to deliver high-impact results."
Elated about her new role, Prabhakar stated, "I am thrilled to step into this new role in such an exciting period of growth at Atlassian. We aspire to be an employer of choice, and a company where people are given the opportunity to do the best work of their careers. That's no small feat, but it's an honour to be at the helm of the teams delivering on this ambition for our 11,000+ Atlassians across the world."
Prabhakar expanded her team in 2021 to include all HRBPs as Global Head of HRBPs, and the following year she extended her remit to include Talent, Employee Relations, and DEI teams. With over 20 years of international experience in the technology, aviation, insurance, research, and analytics industries across the APAC, the Middle East, and the US, Prabhakar is indeed an accomplished People executive. The announcement of her promotion is a testament to her skills and the value she brings to Atlassian.
