Celebrating International Women Engineering Day 2024
Sunday, 23 June, is the eleventh year of International Women in Engineering Day (INWED).
To recognise the great contribution women engineers are making to the profession, INWED is also an important opportunity to encourage more women and young girls to pursue a career in engineering.
Hwa Choo Lim, Equinix's VP, Human Resources, Asia Pacific said: "We recognise the invaluable contributions of women engineers who are transforming the industry with their innovation and expertise.
"At Equinix, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace where women can thrive and excel. I am proud to share that we have made significant progress toward our five-year diversity goals, including a 17% increase in the number of women employees globally. By tapping their unique perspectives and talents, we drive creativity, productivity, and innovation within our organisation and the broader technology industry.
"Our initiatives, such as mentorship programs, leadership development, and flexible work arrangements, are designed to support and empower women engineers at every stage of their careers," she adds.
Hong Zhu, a Sales Engineer at Equinix Australia, joined the company in 2016 and is passionate about pursuing her engineering aspirations.
"Becoming an engineer has always been my dream because I'm passionate about understanding how things work and creating innovative solutions to real-world problems," she said.
"At Equinix, I've found a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters innovation and personal growth. The company's commitment to diversity, inclusion, and employee wellbeing ensures that I feel valued and supported in my career journey, especially as a new mom. The collaborative culture and emphasis on work-life balance make Equinix an ideal place to pursue my engineering aspirations."
Ms Lim continues, "By encouraging young women to pursue careers in the IT and engineering industry, and by providing ongoing support and development opportunities, we can ensure that the women's engineering industry continues to be #EnhancedbyEngineering.
"We're proud to be part of this global movement, celebrating the achievements of women engineers and paving the way for future generations."
