Cequence Security launches comprehensive API security services

Today

Cequence Security has announced the launch of its new API Security Assessment Services aimed at improving the security posture of organisations by providing actionable insights into API risks.

The suite of services utilises the Cequence Unified API Protection platform to offer a comprehensive evaluation of an organisation's API environment. The assessments delve into the API attack surface, compliance with governance frameworks, exposure of sensitive data, and threats directed at applications and APIs. Designed for swift delivery, the services comprise engagements typically running for two to three weeks, except for the API Attack Surface Discovery service, which takes approximately one week.

"Our API security and bot assessment services are designed to empower organisations with the insights they need to safeguard their digital assets," said Anil Pochiraju, Vice President of Customer Success at Cequence. "In today's threat landscape, it's no longer enough to simply monitor for attacks; organisations must actively identify and remediate vulnerabilities within their API landscape. Our innovative service provides a comprehensive view of API-based risks, enabling our clients to take informed action."

The introduction of these services comes at a time when digital transformation is escalating, thereby intensifying the reliance on APIs and the associated security challenges. The assessments offer a detailed examination of potential hidden risks and ensure compliance with both internal and external regulations. Organisations benefit from a SaaS-based onboarding process, facilitating easy access to essential security measures such as continuous threat detection and machine-learning-powered insights that are crucial for reinforcing API security.

The key features of Cequence's API Security Assessment Services include API Attack Surface Discovery, API Inventory & Risk, API Sensitive Data Exposure, API Security Testing, and API Threat Protection. The API Attack Surface Discovery feature identifies the attack potential within a domain, offering visibility into externally accessible API hosts and how these APIs are protected, while also listing edge, infrastructure, and application providers.

The API Inventory & Risk service catalogues all forms of APIs, generates OpenAPI specifications where absent, analyses the OWASP API Top 10 findings, and suggests mitigation strategies for high-risk issues. The API Sensitive Data Exposure component applies machine learning-based rules to identify sensitive data vulnerabilities.

Additionally, API Security Testing involves rigorous testing to discover API coding errors and vulnerabilities such as broken authentication, and API Threat Protection offers ongoing monitoring to detect and assess threats, enabling passive deployment with minimal impact to infrastructure.

"API security is not just a technical challenge; it's a business imperative," added Anil Pochiraju. "Our assessment services provide a clear roadmap for organisations to enhance their API security posture, mitigate risks, and ultimately protect their customers' sensitive data. We are proud to be at the forefront of this critical initiative."

The company regards itself as pioneering with this extensive portfolio of API security assessment services, distinguishing itself by addressing not only the immediate need to identify API vulnerabilities but also facilitating collaborations with partners to extend these capabilities to their clients.

This strategic offering by Cequence Security is positioned to accelerate the detection of vulnerabilities and equip organisations with detailed reports and recommended remediation steps. This proactive approach helps in nurturing a culture of continuous improvement in security practices among development and operational teams.
