Dean Grandy named Global Head of Government at KPMG International
Dean Grandy has been appointed Global Head of Government for KPMG International, taking on leadership of the firm's international government practice.
Grandy, who is currently a Partner at KPMG Australia based in Canberra, will now be responsible for leading global networks of KPMG professionals who provide Audit, Tax and Advisory services to government sector clients worldwide.
With a career spanning more than three decades, Grandy has established himself as a trusted advisor for numerous Australian Federal Government business and digital transformation initiatives. He has been with KPMG Australia for 12 years and has held the role of KPMG's Global Digital Government Leader since February 2024.
During his time at KPMG, Grandy has played a central role in guiding complex and high-profile digital government projects. His experience includes working with public sector organisations in Australia and internationally, focusing on technology-enabled improvements in government services and operations.
Leadership perspective
Regina Mayor, KPMG International's Global Head of Clients & Markets, said Grandy's appointment was recognition of both his expertise and the organisation's ongoing commitment to developing its leadership.
Dean's appointment underscores the depth of our talent and our commitment to cultivating leaders who truly understand our clients, our culture, and our global strategy. He brings outstanding expertise and leadership at a time of growing global complexity. Now, more than ever, it is essential to meet the demands of this environment, and as a Global Sector Head Dean will play a critical role in driving agility, maintaining trust, and delivering meaningful impact.
Grandy succeeds Brenda Walker, who is retiring following a 20-year career with KPMG US. Walker's time at KPMG saw her play a significant role in developing the firm's international profile within the public sector. She led efforts supporting high-profile defence and intelligence clients and managed numerous go-to-market initiatives intended to enhance KPMG's engagement with government clients.
Looking ahead
Reflecting on his new role, Grandy emphasised the opportunities and challenges facing governments globally as they navigate growing complexity and rising citizen expectations.
I'm thrilled to step into this new role at such a pivotal time, as governments and defence organisations face increasing complexity and rising citizen expectations. To truly be future-fit, governments must be technology-enabled, data driven and joined up to unlock the potential of truly digital government. I look forward to working closely with our country and regional government leaders, global clients, alliance partners, and colleagues across KPMG's global network to seize the opportunities ahead.
As Global Head of Government, Grandy will direct KPMG's approach to supporting governments with digital transformation, data management, policy development and public sector service delivery. His responsibilities include coordinating the activities of KPMG professionals internationally to meet the evolving demands of clients in the government sector.
The appointment comes at a time when governments around the world are increasingly seeking advice and support on how to modernise services, improve efficiency and meet the needs of citizens in a rapidly changing environment. KPMG's government practice, under Grandy's leadership, will focus on addressing these trends and supporting public sector clients across multiple jurisdictions.
