Dematic's manufacturing facility in Belrose, New South Wales, has been awarded the Steel Sustainability Australia (SSA) Certification.
The certification recognises the company's adherence to environmentally responsible manufacturing practices in producing Dematic and Colby Storage Solutions products.
The SSA Certification Program identifies sustainable steel suppliers by assessing the environmental and social impacts of their operations. This program, managed by the Australian Steel Institute (ASI), evaluates and certifies downstream steel distributors, fabricators, and roll formers, as well as upstream steel producers, against stringent environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.
Lee Koutsos, who heads Dematic's ANZ Storage Equipment Division, expressed pride in achieving the certification. He stated, "We are incredibly proud to receive this certification, which reflects our dedication to sustainable and responsible production. The Colby Storage Solutions team is committed to reducing our environmental impact while continuing to deliver high-quality products. This recognition reinforces our efforts to lead the way in sustainable supply chain operations."
The SSA Certification is a significant initiative under the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) Responsible Products Framework and aligns with Green Star ratings. Companies that attain SSA Certification, such as Dematic, contribute to promoting sustainability in the construction and manufacturing sectors.
The certification necessitates that steel manufacturers, processors, and distributors adhere to best practice ESG sustainability standards, thereby enhancing efforts to reduce carbon footprints and support environmentally responsible steel procurement. Dematic's certification process included an independent third-party audit to ensure compliance with these high standards.
