Epson has launched the WorkForce Enterprise AM-C10000 in Australia and New Zealand, positioning it as the flagship model in its business inkjet range.

The launch is aimed at organisations with large print volumes, including government departments, schools, healthcare providers, large companies and copy shops. The machine is designed for workplaces that need to handle heavy document output while reducing the energy use and maintenance demands associated with conventional high-speed office printers.

The AM-C10000 prints at up to 100 ISO pages per minute, scans duplex documents at up to 120 images per minute and has a first page-out time of about 4.7 seconds. It is intended for central print rooms, corporate reprographics departments and managed print environments.

Epson is positioning the product as part of a broader shift in office printing, as customers review older print fleets and weigh running costs, service needs and sustainability targets alongside output speed. That puts energy consumption and maintenance at the centre of purchasing decisions for higher-volume devices.

Craig Heckenberg, Managing Director, Epson Australia, said the release reflected changing customer priorities in the high-volume office printing market.

"Energy consumption is becoming a key consideration for organisations operating multiple devices or investing in higher-speed equipment, where power requirements increase significantly. The WorkForce Enterprise AM-C10000 delivers production-class performance while using substantially less energy than comparable laser technologies. We know from our business customers who have made the switch to inkjet that they see energy consumption reduced by up to 90% versus comparable laser devices, which helps them reduce operating costs and support sustainability goals without compromising productivity. For print service providers, these devices also offer a practical way to improve fleet efficiency and reduce heat generation by shifting everyday print volumes to a lower-energy platform," said Heckenberg.

Heat-free design

At the centre of the new model is Epson's Heat-Free printing technology. The approach removes the need for heat during the printing process, unlike laser printers, which rely on heat and use more moving parts.

That design allows the machine to begin printing from sleep mode without the same warm-up demands as laser systems. Fewer replaceable parts should also reduce maintenance over time and help limit downtime in busy print environments.

Epson is also highlighting high-yield ink supplies and high-capacity paper handling as features intended to reduce manual intervention. It says this is particularly important for internal print teams managing large document volumes and mixed office fleets.

Workflow focus

The AM-C10000 also includes features aimed at document control and integration with corporate systems. It supports secure print release, user authentication, auditability and integration with enterprise workflows.

Optional finishing features include stapling, hole punching and booklet production. These functions are aimed at organisations that want to keep more document production in-house, particularly where handling sensitive information is a concern.

The user interface follows the design of Epson's wider AM Series. The machine includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen that should make it easier for organisations to train staff, standardise workflows and manage mixed A3 and A4 fleets.

Market context

The release comes as printer makers seek to win business from organisations reassessing older laser-based fleets. In this market, suppliers are increasingly making the case on total operating costs, energy use, service intervals and workflow management rather than print speed alone.

Epson says the AM-C10000 is designed to address that broader calculation. With the launch, the company is seeking to strengthen its position in business inkjet by offering a model aimed at the upper end of office print demand, where laser devices have traditionally been more common.

Worldwide, the Epson Group reports annual sales of more than JPY 1.4 trillion, underlining the scale of the business behind the launch. In Australia and New Zealand, the company already sells products across office, commercial and industrial printing, as well as other imaging and retail technology markets.

For customers considering a move away from laser-based systems in high-volume office settings, the AM-C10000 gives Epson a flagship product focused on lower energy use, fewer service interventions, document security tools and high-throughput output.
