James Cameron leads JLL's energy role in Asia Pacific

Yesterday

James Cameron has been appointed as Head of Energy & Infrastructure for Asia Pacific at JLL, as the company expands its global Energy & Infrastructure business into this region.

The newly created position, based in Singapore, will see Cameron building a team within Asia Pacific. This development aligns with JLL's strategic goal of establishing a global capital advisory capability to better support local and international developers and investors alongside its existing EMEA Energy & Infrastructure business.

The expansion is driven by the substantial long-term capital requirements necessary to address the challenges of decarbonisation, digitalisation, economic growth, and rapid urbanisation in the region. JLL notes a growing convergence as investors and developers increasingly consider infrastructure and commercial real estate opportunities within comprehensive, decarbonisation-focused real asset strategies.

Stuart Crow, CEO of Capital Markets, Asia Pacific at JLL, commented on Cameron's appointment: "We see significant opportunity to leverage our unique expertise in mobilising multiple sources of capital and JLL's unrivalled track record in advising renewables transactions globally to serve clients within energy and infrastructure across Asia Pacific. James' experience in this exciting space is unmatched regionally and we're extremely confident in his ability to establish JLL's leadership position through his expertise and client relationships."

Cameron will work closely with JLL's Capital Markets, Investment Banking, and Debt Advisory teams throughout the region. His focus will be on originating capital raising and transaction advisory opportunities for significant infrastructure and renewable transactions. These services will cater to institutional investors, private equity, asset managers, strategic infrastructure and renewables operators and developers, along with high net-worth individuals and family offices.

Cameron brings over 25 years of experience in real asset capital markets to his new role at JLL. His background includes successfully mobilising both private and public equity and financing across global and regional infrastructure, cleantech, and commercial real estate sectors. Prior to joining JLL, he served as Global Head of Commercial Real Estate at Standard Chartered Bank, based in Singapore, and led Standard Chartered's Global Power, Utilities, Infrastructure, and CleanTech businesses as well as HSBC's Infrastructure and Real Estate Group in Asia Pacific.
