LoanOptions.ai has partnered with Unbound to integrate debt analysis tools into the HAILO broker portal. The integration is now available to mortgage brokers using the platform.

The addition gives brokers a way to assess a client's full debt position when structuring and recommending home loans. Instead of reviewing each liability in isolation, the tool analyses mortgages, car loans, personal loans, credit cards and student loans together.

This allows brokers to test how one refinancing decision may affect eligibility for another product and whether a different structure could reduce repayments, cut total interest or shorten the time needed to clear debt. The analytical layer sits within HAILO's existing broker workflow and does not change the customer-facing loan application journey.

Compliance focus

A central aim of the partnership is to support brokers with Best Interests Duty compliance. Under Australian rules, mortgage brokers must act in the best interests of their clients when providing credit assistance. The system is intended to create a documented record of the financial reasoning behind a recommendation.

The approach moves part of that process from qualitative judgement to quantitative assessment that can be reviewed later. Brokers can use it to compare existing debts with proposed new lending, examine refinancing options and maintain an audit-ready record of the basis for their advice.

Julian Fayad, Founder and CEO of LoanOptions.ai, outlined the rationale for the integration.

"Brokers already carry the responsibility of proving their advice is genuinely in a client's best interest, but most of the tools they're given only look at one loan in isolation. Unbound lets us hand brokers a proper picture of a client's whole debt position, right inside the HAILO workflow they're already using, so the recommendation and the reasoning behind it are documented, not just remembered. This gives brokers the same depth of analysis the big institutions have always had access to, so they can spend less time justifying their advice and more time actually giving it," Fayad said.

HAILO is LoanOptions.ai's five-minute home loan application journey, and the broker portal already forms part of advisers' workflow. By adding Unbound's analysis at the backend level, LoanOptions.ai aims to expand the information available to brokers without introducing extra steps for borrowers.

Market entry

For Unbound, the tie-up also marks an entry point into the Australian mortgage market through an established broker technology platform. The US-based company analyses a borrower's debt portfolio as a whole, taking into account different liabilities, income and financial goals to identify sequencing options that may improve borrowing outcomes.

One example is a borrower who may first need to consolidate higher-cost unsecured debt before becoming eligible for a mortgage refinance. By mapping interactions between different debts, the platform is designed to identify opportunities that a single-loan review may miss.

Paul Crowley, Co-Founder, CEO and CTO of Unbound, said the product was built around the idea that borrowers do not manage financial obligations one loan at a time.

"Most lending tools look at one loan at a time, but borrowers don't live that way. Their mortgage, car loan, credit cards and personal loans all affect each other, and Unbound is built to analyse that whole picture together. LoanOptions.ai gives us the ideal way into the Australian market: an AI-native platform that brokers already trust and use every day. By building Unbound into the HAILO broker portal, we're giving mortgage brokers a clear, quantitative view of how a client's broader debts shape the best home loan strategy, and a documented rationale that supports their Best Interests Duty obligations," Crowley said.

LoanOptions.ai was founded by Julian Fayad and operates from Auckland, Sydney and Perth. The company says it has focused on digital lending systems for more than five years, including tools for borrower onboarding and loan matching across more than 90 lenders.

Unbound positions its product around holistic debt analysis for consumers, lenders, brokers and fintech groups. Its model examines multiple forms of debt in a single review to identify lower-cost structures, repayment reductions or faster paths to becoming debt-free.

The integration brings that model directly into a broker workflow already used for home loan applications, adding a documented analytical record at the point where recommendations are formed.
