Teradata & Amazon Web Services deepen AI-focused collaboration
Global artificial intelligence (AI) solutions provider, Teradata, has announced the expansion and renewal of its Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The enhanced partnership aims to further support customers in their migration to the cloud, accelerate the modernisation of data analytic ecosystems, and maximise AI opportunity exploitation.
Building on an already established relationship that includes integrations with AWS services like Amazon SageMaker, the collaboration is slated to facilitate customers in unlocking additional industry-unique use cases. Furthermore, the deepened collaboration with AWS will foster generative AI use, taking advantage of Teradata's integration with more AWS services, combined with the provision of harmonised data, Trusted AI, and secure, cloud-native technology.
Peter Murty, Head of Technology - Data Platforms & Governance at The Very Group, a significant digital retailer in the UK and Ireland commented on the partnership. "By leveraging Teradata VantageCloud on AWS, we are able to score complex machine learning functions to predict consumer product demand of 2,000 brands and across 160,000SKUs in every product size and colour. This forecasting solution integrates Amazon SageMaker models with Teradata VantageCloud, ensuring the right products are in stock and ready to ship when our customers want and need them. We look forward to unlocking more AI use cases, including around generative AI."
As explained by Chris Grusz, Managing Director, Technology Partnerships at AWS, this collaboration will deliver greater flexibility to customers. They will be able to migrate at their own pace and reduce their data preparation time for AI initiatives. Notably, customer benefits of the renewed agreement will include fast, flexible cloud access, simplified access to cloud platforms through AWS Marketplace, meaningful business outcomes with industry cloud solutions, and establishing a foundation for generative AI analytics use cases.
Under the expanded SCA, Teradata and AWS present a comprehensive portfolio of cloud services and cloud management that extends rapidly accessible and flexible access to the cloud. With minimal risk and no application rewrite, migrations are completed in weeks, not years. The joint companies' success in simplifying Teradata VantageCloud's application on AWS has led to a stronger product and engineering collaboration to increase system availability and enable a seamless experience for the customers.
Simultaneously, Teradata, a top-ranked Data & Analytics software provider in the AWS Marketplace, looks forward to expanding customer experience. Through the agreement, Teradata VantageCloud, including Enterprise and Lake editions, and Teradata AI Unlimited, will be offered in the AWS Marketplace. Furthermore, it would allow customers to consolidate purchases by subscribing directly through AWS and contributing to the drawdown on their AWS commitments.
This enhanced collaboration ensures firms can confidently build new AI solutions, knowing they will bridge the Proof of Concept to production gap and scale across enterprises. As the Chief Customer Officer at Teradata, Michael Hutchinson, underscores, the expanded SCA "highlights our commitment to being a cloud-first, customer-first company," offering a tightly integrated, streamlined experience for customers.
