Undersea cables stories - Page 4

Submarine communications cables provide essential links between countries and continents, carrying telecommunications signals across oceans and seas. Undersea cables are of particular significance in New Zealand, providing the primary internet links to the world via Australia and the United States. While protected by multiple layers keeping the salt and pressure of the ocean out, the core of every undersea cable is an optic fibre no thicker than a human hair.
