Aon has appointed Quinton Kotze as Head of Cyber Solutions in Australia, marking a further expansion of the firm's cyber practice in the local market.

Based in Sydney, Kotze will lead Aon's cyber solutions work in Australia. He will report to Alistair Clarke, Head of Specialty, Australia, and align with the firm's global cyber practice.

The appointment comes as cyber risk remains a growing concern for companies across sectors, with boards and executives under pressure to respond to more frequent and complex threats. The role will bring together cyber risk advisory and insurance broking for clients in financial services, global corporate and national segments.

Kotze joins from Chubb, where he most recently served as Digital Domain Lead and Financial Lines Product Manager for Asia. He has also held senior cyber and financial lines roles in Australia and elsewhere in the region, with earlier experience at AIG and Marsh.

His move adds an executive with nearly two decades of financial lines experience to Aon's Australian business, including insurer and client relationships in a market where cyber cover, incident response planning and risk assessment have become more prominent in corporate insurance discussions.

Cyber focus

Clarke said the hire reflects Aon's view of cyber risk as a priority area for clients.

"Cyber risk is a critical area of focus for our clients, and this appointment reflects our continued investment in strengthening our cyber capabilities in Australia," said Alistair Clarke, Head of Specialty, Australia, Aon. "Quinton brings deep market experience, strong insurer and client relationships and a balanced, practical approach to cyber risk. He is well placed to lead our cyber solutions business and support clients as their risk environments continue to evolve."

Cyber insurance and advisory services have drawn increased attention from Australian organisations in recent years as ransomware, third-party breaches and operational disruptions have become board-level issues. Brokers and advisers have responded by expanding teams that combine underwriting knowledge, claims insight and risk consulting.

Kotze's brief in Australia will include shaping Aon's local cyber risk strategy while working closely with its international cyber network. The structure reflects how multinational brokers increasingly organise specialist risk teams around both local regulation and global client needs.

Market experience

Kotze said the move comes at a time when cyber issues are becoming more central to business decision-making.

"I'm delighted to be joining Aon at a time when cyber risk is firmly on the agenda for organisations across Australia," said Quinton Kotze, Head of Cyber Solutions, Australia, Aon. "Aon's integrated approach, combining advisory, data, analytics and insurance, provides a strong platform to help clients make better decisions. I'm looking forward to working with colleagues across the firm to further build sustainable, client-focused cyber solutions."

The appointment also highlights competition among large brokers, insurers and specialist advisers for experienced cyber executives in Australia and across Asia-Pacific. Firms across the sector have been reshaping teams as clients seek more joined-up advice on prevention, risk transfer and response planning.

Aon operates across risk, retirement and health advisory services in more than 120 countries. In Australia, it has been expanding specialist expertise in areas where insurance placement and advisory work increasingly overlap, including cyber, financial lines and other complex corporate risks.

Kotze's appointment puts an experienced financial lines and cyber specialist at the head of the local practice, responsible for coordinating advisory and broking work for Australian clients.
