Australian edtech Getmee triumphs in recent funding round
Wed, 10th Jan 2024

Getmee, an Australian Education AI technology startup, has successfully finalised a funding round despite the challenging global funding landscape for early-stage technology companies. Access Capital Ventures (ACV), an Australian venture capital fund led the capital raise, supported by long-standing customers and existing investors.

Getmee is the first of its kind international AI communication platform. It offers personalised coaching solutions designed to enhance English language communication and employability skills. It continues to build on its commercial success, advancing its mission of improving employability skills via on-demand mobile coaching, underpinned by patented AI technology.

In the past year, the company has seen substantial commercial growth and continued the development of a pioneering AI-coaching product that is now in use across 16 countries. Offered through a user-friendly mobile application, larger enterprise customers can white-label the product to maintain their brand.

The company is the creation of Balendran Thavarajah, a self-taught English speaker and computer science graduate from Western Sydney University, who came to Australia from Northern Sri Lanka with no English or formal schooling. Thavarajah has since founded three technology companies, most notably as the founding Chief Technology Officer of Bluedot.

Getmee's AI solutions have been warmly embraced by a variety of establishments including Government Immigration Services Agencies, Employment service providers, Universities, Education providers, and forward-thinking Enterprises. They serve an impressive list of customers and partners both in Australia and internationally, most notably AMES Australia, VFS Global, MTC Australia, Story House Early Learning, Far Eastern University, ISBR Business School Bangalore, Language Advantage Inc., and Deakin University.

Having experienced substantial demand for its English Communication and Interview skills coaching AI product, the company has seen rapid growth across the Not-For-Profit Employment Services and Enterprise Talent Acquisition sectors.

Joining the Getmee board along with leading the funding round, Allan Aaron, one of the General Partners of ACV, stated, “Getmee’s highly differentiated and scalable AI platform is transformative. We are excited to back Getmee and its talented team. The AI innovation and founding principles of the company resonate with ACV’s investment ethos.”

The recent capital boost will aid in the execution of the company’s product roadmap and solidify its market presence in 2024. This funding round is a testimonial to the steadfast commitment of both the Getmee team and its investors to push forward innovation.

CEO and Founder, Balendran Thavarajah, commented, "The funding and the experience the ACV team brings will allow us to support our growth. We look forward to achieving new milestones as we continue to push the boundaries of AI technology for communication skills coaching and reshape the industry landscape."
