GumGum appoints Matt Coote as Country Manager for Australia
GumGum has appointed Matt Coote as the new Country Manager for Australia.
In his role, Coote will be tasked with driving revenue growth, implementing strategic initiatives, and enhancing GumGum's market presence across Australia. His responsibilities will include leading a sales team, fostering relationships with agencies, clients, and overseeing trading deals to ensure value for partners.
Coote joins GumGum with over 13 years of experience in media, having spent the last eight years at Snap Inc. He was a founding member of Snap Inc.'s Australia and New Zealand team where he held positions such as Head of Agency Development and Head of Sales. His career has been noted for high-performance team leadership at both local and global scales, along with recognitions like the B&T 30 Under 30 Award for Media in 2016.
"I have had the privilege of working in roles that prioritise innovation and technology, which aligns perfectly with GumGum's commitment to driving progress in digital advertising," stated Coote. "What really excited me about this role was hearing about the strong cultural foundation GumGum has built. I look forward to collaborating with the team to build on what's already here. As Bill Marklein says, 'Culture is how employees' hearts and stomachs feel about Monday morning on Sunday night.' That's where the magic happens, and I can't wait to help make that even stronger at GumGum."
Highlighting GumGum's commitment to workplace culture, the company prides itself on fostering an environment encouraging innovation and collaboration among its employees. This focus is seen as integral to attracting talent and maintaining its position in the digital advertising industry. Coote's appointment is anticipated to further strengthen these cultural attributes and drive success within the Australian market.
Niall Hogan, General Manager, JAPAC, at GumGum, expressed enthusiasm about Coote's addition to the team. "We're excited to welcome Matt Coote to GumGum. His deep expertise and dedication to cultivating a strong team culture make him an excellent addition to our team," said Hogan. "The energy and perspective Matt brings, along with his focus on fostering cross-market collaborations will be invaluable. By partnering with stakeholders across the company, we believe Matt will refine our strategies and drive impactful results in this market."
Coote's approach to leadership is influenced by an appreciation for emotional intelligence and building relationships, inspired by figures such as Jay Shetty and Brené Brown. Known also for his dedication to maintaining work-life balance, he is a supporter of advocacy initiatives like "The Village" which aid working parents in the media sector. Although his plans to relocate to Newcastle are currently paused, Coote remains committed and active in Sydney.
