Intapp has launched a DealCloud with Celeste plug-in for ChatGPT for Financial Services, giving eligible clients access to firm data within the platform.

Designed for deal teams in financial services, the software links a firm's client, deal and relationship records from DealCloud to ChatGPT. Intapp said the tool is governed by its existing controls for confidential information, information barriers and independence obligations.

DealCloud is Intapp's platform for managing relationships, transactions and related workflows in financial services. Celeste is its internal AI assistant focused on firm-specific knowledge. The new plug-in brings those records into OpenAI's ChatGPT for Financial Services, which Intapp described as a version of ChatGPT tailored to the sector.

According to Intapp, ChatGPT for Financial Services combines built-in financial data with GPT-6 Astra to support tasks such as research, financial modelling and client materials. Adding DealCloud with Celeste is intended to let users draw on their own firm's records alongside those functions.

Intapp said thousands of firms use its software, including about 1,700 in private capital and investment banking. That installed base gives it a large pool of structured data on deals, investors and relationships across firms operating in regulated markets.

Governance focus

A central part of the launch is Intapp's emphasis on governance and compliance controls. Internal knowledge can only be exposed to an AI model if confidential information remains protected, the company said, adding that the rules already established in its systems carry over to the new ChatGPT plug-in for Financial Services.

That matters in financial services, where material non-public information, internal access restrictions and independence requirements can limit how data is shared within organisations. Intapp said it built those controls into its products over two decades and is now applying the same framework to AI use.

Intapp set out several uses for the plug-in, including helping professionals prepare for meetings with a broader history of a client relationship, identify colleagues with relevant connections and track the status of live deals without relying on separate manual updates.

The launch also reflects how software suppliers to banks, advisers and private capital firms are trying to move beyond generic AI assistants by linking them to proprietary internal records. For many users, the value of these tools depends less on general world knowledge than on access to a firm's own relationship history, transaction data and internal decision-making context.

OpenAI has been seeking more industry-specific uses for ChatGPT through tailored versions for sectors with specialised workflows and data requirements. In this case, Intapp is positioning its software as the layer that determines what a user can see from a firm's records when interacting with the model.

Client access

The DealCloud with Celeste plug-in is available to eligible Intapp clients in ChatGPT for Financial Services. Intapp did not provide pricing details in the announcement.

Thad Jampol, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Intapp, outlined the company's view of where the product fits in the market:

"Frontier models know the world. But they don't know your firm: who you cover, what you've committed to, what your people are and aren't permitted to see. Intapp built Celeste to be that intelligence, and we're proud to bring this plug-in into ChatGPT for Financial Services for the world's leading financial firms. Everything else in this market can be bought. What a firm knows cannot."
