Neo4j supports DXC's career management portal launch
Neo4j has announced its support for developing a career and skills management portal for IT consulting firm DXC Technology.
The portal, named DXC Career Navigator Digital Skills and Mentoring platform, allows DXC employees to explore potential career advancement pathways while matching their skills to specific client project requirements.
Built using Neo4j Enterprise and Graph Data Science modules, the portal has enabled DXC to integrate various data sources to gain enhanced insights into employee skill sets.
The portal integrates data from the company's organisational hierarchy, learning records, skill profiles, past, current, and future assignments, as well as third-party skill data.
The project initiated in 2021 when DXC identified the limitations of using spreadsheets and relational databases for talent acquisition and retention.
Initially, a graph of DXC employee skills, learning requirements, and previous assignments was designed.
A Neo4j graph database was then employed to model the relationships between different variables.
A minimum viable product version of the DXC Career Navigator was tested with 5,000 employees. Following the pilot's success, it was made accessible to all staff across the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions.
Currently, the portal connects employee data from multiple internal platforms, maintaining a comprehensive record of organisational hierarchy, learning records, skill profiles, and third-party skill data.
Since its implementation, the Career Navigator has supported more than 14,000 employees, aiding in reducing attrition rates from 24% to less than 15% and increasing internal hiring by 12%.
To date, over 8,000 employees have created career profiles, and 5,000 have established career development plans via the platform.
This initiative provides employees with greater awareness of in-demand skills and internal opportunities for promotions and client assignments, facilitating more effective career discussions between managers and staff.
Michele Howard, Product Owner and Workforce Management Data Analytics Specialist, stated, "Career Navigator reinforces DXC's commitment to supporting business growth while giving our employees a tool that supports their career goals and the advanced skills to succeed now and in the future."
She added, "When GenAI and other new technologies are ready for mission-critical work, our people will be there."
"Career Navigator and Neo4j graph database help get our employees ahead of any skills gap and future-proof our business."
