NTT DATA unveils Smart AI AgentTM to boost enterprise AI

Thu, 20th Feb 2025

NTT DATA has announced the rollout of "Smart AI AgentTM", an autonomous agent aimed at helping enterprises utilise Generative AI capabilities more effectively.

The initiative seeks to address burgeoning demand for reliable tools to maximise Generative AI opportunities. The company forecasts that this could lead to revenues of up to USD $2 billion by 2027. The move comes in the wake of NTT DATA's insights into current Generative AI adoption trends, which revealed a gap between AI strategy and broader business integration, hampering return on investment.

The Smart AI AgentTM is designed to streamline and optimise processes by autonomously handling task execution based on user directives. NTT DATA contends that this will improve operational efficiencies and mitigate talent shortages at a global scale.

"The launch of our Smart AI AgentTM is a direct response to the growing demand for tools that unlock the full potential of Generative AI. At NTT DATA, we're committed to pioneering innovation that drives enterprise success. Smart AI AgentTM is designed to ease operational burdens, drive adoption, and help businesses realise the true value of AI technology," stated Yutaka Sasaki, President and CEO of NTT DATA.

The technology is applicable across various sectors, reportedly already improving efficiency in automotive DevOps data analysis, regulatory processes within banking, and the marketing operations cycle for a gas manufacturer.

Upon deployment, Smart AI AgentTM will feature several core capabilities. These include autonomously streamlining complex workflows, enabling multi-agent collaboration for enhanced workflow management, and providing advanced contextual searches via Retrieval-Augmented Generation. Forthcoming updates, such as User-in-the-Loop capabilities scheduled for March 2025, will allow workflow enhancements through continuous user feedback.

NTT DATA aims to ensure robust integration of the Smart AI AgentTM by offering an end-to-end solution encompassing consultation, implementation, and support services. While public cloud services are commonly used by businesses to enhance AI efforts, the company recognises the need for private cloud solutions among security-conscious clients, thus providing necessary infrastructure for both scenarios.

One of the intended outcomes of the Smart AI AgentTM is the alleviation of repetitive tasks typically handled by employees, thereby allowing them to focus on more strategic and innovative roles within their organisations.

The rollout of Smart AI AgentTM will initially take place in the United States, China, and selected European nations, with plans for broader international availability. The tool is expected to assist enterprises in refining their AI strategies, aligning them more closely with business goals for improved productivity and efficiency.
