Remote launches service to manage international contractors

Remote has introduced its latest service, Remote Contractor of Record, aimed at facilitating the management and payment of international contractors while reducing risks associated with compliance and misclassification.

The service responds to a growing trend identified in Remote's Global Freelancer report, which notes that nearly 40% of companies are now hiring international contractors. Many organisations face increased complexities and risks such as administrative burdens, compliance issues, and the danger of misclassifying workers as independent contractors rather than employees, resulting in possible legal consequences.

Remote Contractor of Record assumes full responsibility for contracting, administrating, and remunerating international contractors, relieving companies from compliance challenges and operational burdens. It provides assurance against the legal and financial risks of misclassification by becoming the legal entity responsible for engaging and paying contractors. The service includes onboarding, invoicing, tax management, and ensuring timely payments.

The service complements Remote's existing offerings designed to simplify global contractor management, such as Remote Contractor Management, which includes automated onboarding, compliant contract generation, and streamlined invoice approvals and payments. Furthermore, Remote Contractor Management Plus offers additional protection against misclassification with up to USD $1 million in indemnity coverage.

Remote provides the flexibility to pay contractors in over 70 currencies, including stablecoin options, aligning with each company's preferences for compensating their international workforce.
