Sweet As launches AI hospitality discovery platform

Sweet As has launched an AI-powered hospitality discovery platform in Sydney, aiming to connect venues with diners through search, social features and curated recommendations.
The platform is built for both consumers and hospitality operators, with tools for venue discovery, direct customer engagement, bookings and marketing analysis. It enters a market where restaurants, bars and cafes compete for attention across social media, review sites and booking apps.
At the centre of the service is a discovery feed that uses user behaviour, curated content and search signals to surface venues. Users can browse "Eatlists", described as lists of favourite restaurants, bars and cafes created by food lovers across the city.
Sweet As is positioning the product as an alternative to discovery models shaped by follower numbers or paid placement. Venues will not be ranked through paid advertising, and the platform does not charge commissions.
Venue tools
For hospitality businesses, the product includes features aimed at customer retention and acquisition. Venues can communicate with regular customers, send offers and rewards, and run targeted campaigns to attract new diners.
The platform also includes booking and ordering functions designed to take users from discovery to action in one step. Venue operators also receive data on how customers found them, what users are searching for and how promotions are performing.
That focus on first-party data reflects a broader trend in hospitality and retail, where operators are seeking more direct insight into customer behaviour instead of relying solely on social media reach or third-party platforms. Smaller venues in particular often have limited visibility into who is finding them online and what prompts a booking or visit.
Tara Williams, Co-founder of Sweet As, said the business was created to address that gap in digital discovery. "Our goal with Sweet As is to bring the magic of discovering new dining spots back to the forefront of hospitality," Williams said.
"We want venues to be found for what makes them special, not just their follower numbers, and give foodies a smarter, more human way to choose where to eat," she said.
Discovery market
The launch adds another entrant to a crowded field of consumer recommendation apps, booking services and venue directories. Many of those platforms rely heavily on user reviews, sponsored listings or broad search categories, while social media has become a major channel for restaurant discovery through creators and viral content.
Sweet As is trying to occupy the space between those models by combining user-generated lists, search and platform-driven recommendations. Its approach points to a push towards more personalised hospitality search, where diners look for atmosphere, menu style or a specific type of experience rather than simply the highest-rated venue.
Williams said the company also wants to give venues more scope to present themselves beyond standard listings. "With Sweet As, we're redefining hospitality discovery," she said.
"Venues now have a platform to truly showcase their story, their menu, and their vibe, and connect with diners who are actively seeking authentic experiences," Williams said.
Sweet As was co-founded by Williams, who has spent more than a decade working in hospitality, according to the company. The business said the idea grew from demand among diners for more detailed, experience-led ways to search for places to eat and drink, especially venues that are less prominent in mainstream rankings.
The launch in Sydney gives the company an initial foothold in one of Australia's largest hospitality markets, where independent operators and larger groups are under pressure to attract repeat customers while managing rising marketing costs. The platform's proposition rests on whether it can persuade both diners and venues to adopt a new destination for discovery at a time when attention is already fragmented across multiple apps and channels.
