Tyro launches embedded payments for seamless transactions

Yesterday

Tyro has introduced an Australian-developed embedded payments solution, allowing businesses to process tap-to-pay transactions via various devices and point-of-sale (POS) systems.

The company has released a Software Development Kit (SDK) to enable software developers to incorporate Tyro's tap-to-pay technology directly into iOS and Android devices, apps, and POS systems. This integration allows Australian merchants to accept payments using a Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled POS system or device without needing an additional terminal.

Jon Davey, CEO at Tyro, stated, "Tyro's mission is to make payments the easiest part of doing business. With our embedded payments, merchants get a hassle-free, tap-to-pay system on any device. We're thrilled to launch this solution with our valued POS partners, offering Australian merchants another simple way to create seamless experiences for their customers."

The embedded payments system offers merchants several advantages, including the ability to use their own Android or iOS devices to begin accepting payments without an extra EFTPOS device. This leads to a more streamlined customer checkout experience by having both POS and payments managed by one device.

This approach also eliminates monthly EFTPOS rental fees, transitioning to a transaction-only payment model. Additionally, merchants can receive their funds every day of the week into a Tyro Bank Account.

The embedded payments solution is currently operational for merchants using the Liven, Metapos, and Ivida POS systems. The Tyro Embedded Payments SDK is available for software developers and POS partners for integration into existing iOS or Android devices that support NFC technology.
