Workday rolls out global payroll tool with Remote integration
Workday has launched GO Global Payroll, a new integration developed with Remote, designed to help companies manage payroll as they expand their operations internationally. The tool is aimed at simplifying payroll and compliance processes for organisations employing staff across multiple countries.
Payroll integration
As global hiring becomes more widespread, companies are seeking tools that combine payroll and human resources functions into a single platform. GO Global Payroll, available to Workday GO customers, uses Remote's technology to enable employers to pay teams globally through the Workday system, without the need for additional software.
The partnership allows Workday to provide in-country compliance and payroll infrastructure via Remote, addressing a growing requirement for unified workforce management. According to Remote's Global Workforce Report, over 86 percent of companies now employ talent in more than one country, with the majority expecting this number to increase by 2026.
Compliance demands
The rise in cross-border employment presents compliance challenges as companies need to navigate varying regulations. Remote's embedded technology is designed to handle these complexities, allowing Workday to offer payroll solutions that meet local requirements without customers having to leave the Workday environment.
The Remote Embedded platform lets Workday avoid the burden of building its own compliance systems, instead drawing on Remote's expertise and infrastructure. The new payroll system has been developed to appear fully integrated with Workday's platform.
"We worked closely with the Workday team to make global payroll feel like a natural extension of their platform. This reflects our shared vision to make paying teams anywhere in the world simple and compliant," said Pim Altena, GM of Remote Embedded, Remote.
Industry shifts
Recent trends reveal a shift towards HR and payroll convergence, with businesses seeking a single system of record for personnel and payment data. The combined offering is positioned to serve organisations transitioning from domestic-only payrolls to a global workforce model.
Remote's technology brings additional features to the integration, including artificial intelligence tools and localised payroll operations managed by in-country experts. The approach is intended to support companies as they adapt to expanded hiring geographies, while maintaining compliance and efficiency in payroll processing.
Market growth
The move occurs in the context of rapid global hiring momentum. As more companies look to onboard talent outside their home markets, there is a growing expectation for payroll solutions that operate across multiple jurisdictions yet remain part of companies' broader HR systems. According to Remote, companies are increasingly prioritising unified approaches to hiring, management, and payment of internationally distributed teams.
"This reflects our shared vision to make paying teams anywhere in the world simple and compliant," said Altena.
