CMC Invest has launched CMC Intelligence, an artificial intelligence tool for investors developed in partnership with Telescope AI.

The tool is designed to provide portfolio-level and instrument-level insights across shares, exchange-traded funds and cryptocurrencies. It covers markets including Australia, the United States, Singapore, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

The system ranks market information according to a client's holdings to highlight the price moves, news and events most relevant to a portfolio. Users can then drill down into individual instruments to review announcements, earnings, macroeconomic factors and company events linked to those movements.

The product draws on verified market data, corporate filings, regulatory disclosures and public news sources. Its research process uses separate AI agents organised by asset class and geography, with source citations intended to let investors check the original material.

The launch comes as more retail investors use artificial intelligence in investment research and decision-making. CMC Invest cited research showing that 23 per cent of its clients now use AI for investing, up from 12 per cent six months earlier.

CMC Invest is one of Australia's largest share trading platforms outside the banking sector. Its offering includes more than 2,500 ASX-listed shares and ETFs, more than 40,000 international shares and ETFs across 15 markets, and access to cryptocurrencies.

How it works

The tool analyses each underlying asset using research methods tailored to its asset type and region. For Australian ETFs, for example, it identifies major constituent holdings and tracks earnings, market announcements and other developments from recognised sources.

At the portfolio level, the system combines signals across a user's holdings and presents what it judges to be the most relevant issues at a given time. From there, investors can move into a single stock, ETF or cryptocurrency to examine the items associated with recent market activity.

The approach reflects a broader shift among investment platforms as they seek to present large volumes of market information in a more targeted format. For retail investors in particular, the growth in listed products, cross-border trading and round-the-clock news has made it harder to monitor holdings through conventional research feeds alone.

Ryan O'Doherty, Head of Product for CMC Invest APAC, said the product was designed to help users manage a constant flow of information from multiple sources.

"CMC Intelligence addresses a common challenge for investors: maintaining clarity and confidence in fast-moving or volatile markets, which often requires monitoring fragmented and conflicting information across multiple sources," O'Doherty said.

He said artificial intelligence could help by turning research and trade analysis into information that is easier to assess in real time.

"AI-enabled solutions shift the focus to synthesis, helping clients cut through market noise by transforming complex market research and trade analysis into insights that are easier to understand, quicker to act on, and more relevant to real trading decisions," O'Doherty said.

He added that consolidating and explaining relevant information in one place could help investors cut through complexity and make informed decisions.

"By consolidating and explaining relevant information in one place, CMC Intelligence effectively helps investors cut through complexity and make informed investment decisions in a world that is changing fast," O'Doherty said.

Partner role

Telescope AI provides technology to brokers and wealth managers, focusing on tools for investment research and capital markets compliance. Its platform is used across seven jurisdictions.

Luc Pettett, Chief Executive Officer of Telescope AI, said CMC had treated artificial intelligence as a structural part of investor engagement rather than a bolt-on feature.

"Working closely with CMC's team to bring this to market has been exceptional," Pettett said.

"They understood that AI isn't a feature add-on, it's infrastructure that changes how investors engage with capital markets and ultimately empowers the investor," he said.

CMC Invest's parent, CMC Markets, is listed in London and is part of the FTSE 250. The broader group says it serves more than 1 million investors and traders through 13 offices globally.
