Workday launches new AI tools to transform talent management

Tue, 6th Aug 2024

Workday has launched new artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities aimed at transforming recruitment and talent management processes. The releases include HiredScore AI for Recruiting, HiredScore AI for Talent Mobility, and enhancements to Workday Job Architecture.

Challenges in recruiting, hiring, and retaining workers signal a need for more efficient systems, noted Aashna Kircher, group general manager for the office of the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Workday. Kircher stated, "Inefficient processes can delay hiring and put undue burden on recruiters and managers, and can result in both internal and external candidates being overlooked. Workday is delivering AI to rapidly transform how organisations manage talent to help them find the right person for the right job at the right time."

HiredScore AI for Recruiting and HiredScore AI for Talent Mobility are designed to assist organisations in speeding up the hiring process, improving candidate and manager experiences, and supporting employee growth. The healthcare industry, for example, has experienced significant challenges, as cited by Tom Nesteruk, senior vice president of HR and associate chief people officer at AdventHealth. Nesteruk highlighted the impact of HiredScore AI: "HiredScore AI is transforming the way we engage and support our talent pool and existing workforce—it has helped us hire more than 1,000 clinical candidates from our existing database within the first year of implementation, and we've seen a 40% decrease in our hiring manager decision time."

Through HiredScore AI for Recruiting, users can leverage AI to identify candidates whose skills and experience closely match job requirements, thereby speeding up the hiring process. Recruiters and hiring managers can also rediscover talent from past applicants and passive talent pipelines. Additionally, candidates can be assisted in finding other suitable job openings, enhancing their connection with potential employers. Workday noted that this AI tool provides measurable outcomes such as a 25% increase in recruiter capacity and 34% faster reviews by hiring managers.

The HiredScore AI for Talent Mobility is designed to accelerate employee growth and expand skill sets by delivering career development opportunities directly to employees. It also aids managers by offering tailored job recommendations for their team members. The tool is reported to have outcomes such as a 40% increase in internal application rates and making employees 2.3 times more likely to apply for internal roles when given tailored recommendations.

Workday has also rolled out new AI features in Workday Job Architecture. These updates aim to organise job roles within an organisation more efficiently, ensure responsibilities are well-defined, and support pay equity. The AI capabilities include the Intelligent Job Architecture Hub, which acts as a central workspace for managing job architecture. Users can access market-trending skills suggestions, generate timely job profiles using generative AI, and maintain job profiles with redundancy detection features.

Cherry MacKenzie, senior director of HR digital innovation at Thomson Reuters, commented on the new features, stating, "The new AI capabilities in Workday Job Architecture will help set a solid foundation for Thomson Reuters to efficiently and intuitively manage our job catalogue, make smarter decisions about our talent strategies, and reduce manual maintenance. As we look to cultivate a more effective and future-proof workforce, Workday is helping us accelerate our skills-based talent strategy and adapt to evolving business needs."

According to Workday, HiredScore AI for Recruiting is immediately available to existing customers with Workday Recruiting, and HiredScore AI for Talent Mobility is available to select existing enterprise customers with Workday Talent Optimization. Both solutions can also be accessed as standalone offerings by new customers not currently using Workday's services. The updated Workday Job Architecture features will be progressively available to Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) customers globally over the year.
